Faryal Khamis

Dr. Faryal Khamis is a Senior Consultant and Head of the Infectious Diseases Unit and deputy of Directorate of Internal Medicine at the Royal Hospital in Muscat, Oman, where she Chairs both the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee and the Infection Prevention and Control Committee. She is a member of a number of National Committees and task forces in the Ministry of Health, Oman. 

Dr. Faryal Khamis completed her medical school training with honors at the Sultan Qaboos University in Oman in 1993. Following her completion of a residency program in Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, USA in 1999, she completed two fellowships programs both in Infectious Diseases and in Medical Microbiology at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina. 

Dr. Faryal Khamis has authored several publications in scientific journals. Her main research interests include respiratory viral infections, infections in immunocompromised patients, including those with HIV, antimicrobial Stewardship and SARS-CoV-2.
